S T R E E T S M A R T : print jumpsuits

Tropical Jumpsuit

Depending on your style, a print jumpsuit can be overwhelming or your go to for an easy outfit. I personally like them because of the convenience, but also because they can be surprisingly versatile.

I recently found this tropical jumpsuit and I can't get over the cheesy (but equally amazing) print. It looks great with neutrals (like a trench or camel coat) but also looks great on its own for the summer time.

I also recently came across this kilim print romper. The print is a perfect balance crazy and subtle - lots of details in the print, but the color combo makes it subtle.

M I N I M A L I S T

There has been a new wave in minimalist style lately, and it could not have come at a better time. We are living in a culture of over-consumption and not only is it costing us a fortune, but it is also costing the environment. But living a life of simplicity doesn't mean you have to sacrifice personal style. If anything, minimizing your wardrobe makes life easier and helps you express your style without constantly swapping out your closet.
The key is to have well-fitting, quality basics with your favorite vintage pieces.

Vintage Blouse (sold)  / Zara Blazer / BDG Jeans

Of course, "basics" are relative. If you work in an office, your definition of "basics" will be different than the studio artist down the street. But there are a few essentials that every woman should have in order to make her life simple:

black fitted pants      white button down shirt      black blazer       chambray shirt
skinny jeans          white t-shirt         perfectly fitting coat        white fitted jeans
leather sandals            black t-shirt          ankle boots         silk blouse
black leather jacket         flats       chunky knit sweater

 ....just to name a few.
Most importantly, these basics should be long lasting, should fit you perfectly and should be made with comfortable materials.  These items are worth spending good money on because they will never go out of style and will always look good with anything.
Finally, a minimalist wardrobe is the perfect wardrobe to incorporate vintage items. Great vintage pieces set your wardrobe apart and gives your style an individualistic touch.

If there is any rule for buying vintage it's buy whatever speaks to you.
You should love every vintage item you purchase. In fact, you should love EVERY item you purchase, period. If you don't love it, you won't wear it. But if you do love it, you know that it will go perfectly with all of your closet basics.
If you follow this rule, your wardrobe will be well used and you will avoid wasteful shopping. Plus, growing your vintage collection is easy on your wallet as well as easy on the environment.

A minimalist wardrobe with vintage accents makes it super easy to mix and match...

Current Coats

It's hard to find a good vintage coat that is wearable today. Most vintage coats I see are way too embellished for today's modern and simplistic silhouettes. These embellishments include over the top shoulder pads, huge sleeves, gigantic (almost comical) buttons and so much more. I guess these features could work for some people, but I always like to find a coat that is wearable with almost anything because after all, you will probably be wearing it a lot.

Here are a few vintage coats in the shop right now, and some similar modern silhouettes for inspiration.

I recently came across this 1970's white pleated maxi skirt, and since acquiring it I have noticed how versatile it is. It's so beautiful on its own but simple enough to go with just about anything.
